"Mitch" Mitchell, 56, of 321 Wildwood Dr., died at 9:29 p.m. Nov. 27, 2006, at Hospice House. He was born Feb. 5, 1950 in Ottumwa to Bert and Opal Weiser Mitchell. He married Laura Sue Hanson at Willard St. United Methodist Church on Feb. 14, 1976. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he had served in the U.S. Navy. "Mitch" Mitchell, 56, of 321 Wildwood Dr., died at 9:29 p.m. Nov. 27, 2006, at Hospice House. He was born Feb. 5, 1950 in Ottumwa to Bert and Opal Weiser Mitchell. He married Laura Sue Hanson at Willard St. United Methodist Church on Feb. 14, 1976. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he had served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked at Wapello County Ambulance Service and had received his paramedic license. He was presently head custodian at Wilson School. He loved to hunt and fish. Surviving is his wife, Sue; a son, Ada (Amanda) Mitchell of Ottumwa; a daughter, Erin Mitchell of Ottumwa; a stepson, Phillip Bleything of Oskaloosa,; a stepdaughter, Veronica Stewart of rural Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Dakota and Malainie Robertson; three stepgrandchildren, Colt, Kelsey and Jack Stewart; three sisters, Alice (Bob) Horn of Mountain Home, Ark., Roberta (Jack) Pfaff and Darlene Andrews, both of Ottumwa; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Leurs officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City.
