Mr. Jennings was born on March 18, 1950 in Union, SC a son of the late Herman Leroy Jennings and Ora Elizabeth Sprouse O’Shields. He was reared in the home of his maternal grandparents Clyde E. Read More	Mr. Clyde Daniel “Brother Sprouse” Jennings, age 68, husband of Marlene Burris Jennings, of 249 Oakland Rd., Union, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Union Medical Center. Mr. Jennings was born on March 18, 1950 in Union, SC a son of the late Herman Leroy Jennings and Ora Elizabeth Sprouse O’Shields. He was reared in the home of his maternal grandparents Clyde E. Sprouse and Carrie Fowler Sprouse. Mr. Jennings was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Technical College. He retired in June 2017 from the City of Union as a Waste Water Operator. Mr. Jennings was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the Union Church of God. He was an avid Clemson Fan. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Rodney Shane Jennings and wife Tammy of Gaffney; one godson, Allen Mitchell and wife Kristen of Union; six grandchildren, Kari Jennings, Adam Jennings, Jacob Jennings, Nicholas Jennings, Mark Whiting, and Hope Hardy; five great-grandchildren, Tru Jennings, Alex Hardy, Allison Rodrigues, Haiden Jennings, and Raine Smith; one “brother”, Terry Mitchell and wife Linda of Union; his beloved pet cocker spaniel, Layla; and many special friends and in-laws. He was predeceased by one sister, Linda Gregory. Memorial Services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Alton Stone and Rev. Randy Smith. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, past and present employees of the City of Union, Lucky Ray, Joe Stepp, Roger Bailey, and Ted Belue. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at the home, 249 Oakland Rd., Union, SC 29379.
