Clyde Eugene Brown, eldest son of John M. and Lodema Brown, was born in Shelby Co., Iowa, October 16, 1880. At the age of 15 he moved with his parents and three brothers to Lucky Valley. He grew to manhood in this community. March 12, 1902, he married Katie Alice Fixsel. To them two children were born, Opal M. Schram and John L. Brown. Most of his life was spent in farming in the Anthon vicinity. He also farmed nine years in Plymouth County north of Sioux City. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge since August 10, 1951. Mr. Brown retired from active farming three years ago last May when he purchased a home and moved into Anthon. Much of his time was spent on the farm, helping when he could. He had suffered a light stroke three years ago but appeared to recover from it. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack Wednesday morning, October 24, just eight days after his 71st birthday. Surviving are the widow, Katie A. Brown; a daughter, Mrs. A.I. (Opal) Schram; a son, John L. Brown; three grandchildren, Donald, Jim and Lyle Schram; two brothers, William Brown of Anthon, Clarence Brown of Sheldon, and a half-sister, Mrs. Ada Sanford of Correctionville. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
