Description	:	Clyde Gardner, born July 3, 1900, a longtime resident of the Newton area, died at 7 p.m. at the age of 56, Saturday February 2, 1957 while visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Claudine Gardner Burton of Birmingham, Alabama. Death was caused by a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Allan K. (Harriet) Morgan of Newton, Mrs. Marshall (Claudine) Burton of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Sents of Ottumwa and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Owens of Newton; 13 grandchildren, and his father, John Gardner of Newton. Also surviving are two half-sisters, Mrs.Howard (Nellie) Jones of Newton and Miss Grace Gardner of Des Moines and a half-brother, John Gardner Jr. of Des Moines. The son of John and Harriet Gardner, Mr. Gardner was born July 3, 1900 on a farm south of Newton, Educated in Jasper County schools, Mr. Gardner farmed and was a carpenter in the Newton area.
