Description	:	OBITUARY Clyde James Cannon, born in Oskaloosa October 21st 1888. Died April 10, 1955 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Hot Springs South Dakota, aged 66 years, six months and seven days. Came to South Dakota in 1904, working in the vicinity of Chamberlain for several years. He homesteaded near Iona, in Lyman County, and except for the time he served with the 70th Infantry, 10th Division, United States Army during World War One, he lived in that community until 1931 when he moved to the vicinity of Norris, South Dakota where he farmed until 1943... Read More	OBITUARY Clyde James Cannon, born in Oskaloosa October 21st 1888. Died April 10, 1955 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Hot Springs South Dakota, aged 66 years, six months and seven days. Came to South Dakota in 1904, working in the vicinity of Chamberlain for several years. He homesteaded near Iona, in Lyman County, and except for the time he served with the 70th Infantry, 10th Division, United States Army during World War One, he lived in that community until 1931 when he moved to the vicinity of Norris, South Dakota where he farmed until 1943 when he purchased the garage in Norris, which he operated until he became ill in the spring of 1954. He went to the Veterans Hospital in July where he was bedfast until his death. He was a member of Otterman Post No 93 of the American Legion, in White River, South Dakota. He is survived by one sister Mrs Blanche C Kaufman and one brother Joseph G Cannon both of Norris, also nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Union Church in Norris, with Rev Don McFarling officiating. The hymns, Beyond the Sunset, In the Garden, and In the Sweet Bye and Bye were sung by Mrs Reece Bligh, Mrs Bryon Letellier, Mrs Harry Merchen Jr, and Mrs Wilbur Case accompanied by Mrs Rev Bohannan. Pall bearers were Otis Tarr, Wilfred Totton, Marley Hanna, Ernest Weiss, Dave Heston and F Z O'Bryon, all veterans of World War One. American Legion Post No 93 of White River conducted graveside services under J F Corcoran, Commander, with Jack Hight in command of the firing squad. The funeral was in charge of the McColey Funeral Home of Hot Springs.
