Description	:	Mr. Racey was born March 28, 1910, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Albert and Lydia Walker Racey. He married Marion Laurent April 12, 1939, in Des Moines. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933-34, during WWII, helping build Lake McBride. He later was employed with the University of Iowa Laundry for 15 years as well as working in carpentry, plumbing and as a police officer for the City of West Branch. Read More	Mr. Racey was born March 28, 1910, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Albert and Lydia Walker Racey. He married Marion Laurent April 12, 1939, in Des Moines. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1933-34, during WWII, helping build Lake McBride. In 1975, he retired and moved to Ponderosa Lake near Montezuma, returning to West Branch in 1996. In 2002, he moved to the Solon Care Center. Survivors include a son, James Racey and his wife, Nancy, of West Branch; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Constance; and a sister, Ethel Branson.
