Born in Cherokee County, he was the husband of Grace Lavender Medley and son of the late Worth Lee Medley and Mary Tallent Medley. Mr. Medley was the owner/operator of Medley's Concrete for over thirty years, was a Mason & Shriner and was a member of the State Highway Commission for eight years, serving from 1976-1980 and 1984-1988. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Barry Gene Medley and wife, Peggy B. of Gaffney; two sisters, Elmeree Blanton of Gaffney and Ferolene Cooley and husband, Mike of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Richard Bryan Medley and wife, Teri of Gaffney and David Craig Medley and fiancé, Jordan Scott of Columbia; a great-grandchild, Luke Greyson Medley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Medley and a sister, Myrtle Byars. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 PM on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:30 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family will be at the home of Barry and Peggy Medley, 230 Worths Trail, Gaffney Blakely Funeral Home & Crematory, Gaffney, SC
