Dirnberger, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Linus Dirnberger of Route 1 were held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at the St. Lawrence Church at New Hamburg with the Rev. Father H. J. Melles officiating, assisted by Father Chas. A. Schmalle and Joseph Keusenkothen. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Earl J. Smith Funeral Home in charge. Young Dirnberger was instantly killed Saturday afternoon when struck by lightning while working on the family farm. The tragedy occurred during an electrical disturbance which preceded a near-torrential rain. The youth had been moving a hog shed with a tractor and was unhooking a tie chain from the 12 by 6 foot shed when the bolt struck. Several boards on the shed were splintered and a hole was drilled in the straw hat the boy was wearing. There were no signs of burns, however, on either the shed or the youth's body. The accident happened at 2 o'clock. A graduate of the eighth grade last year of St. Lawrence School at New Hamburg, Clyde Marcus Dirnberger was born May 2, 1936, at the family home between Oran and New Hamburg. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church and of the CYC organization. Active pall bearers were: James Dohogne, Robert and Elmer Dirnberger, Harold Schafer, Vernon Vetter and Ervin Compas. Honary pall bearers, all former school mates, were Ralph Glastetter; Adolph Westrich, Paul Henkel, James Welter, Paul Essner and James Seyer. Besides the parents, the boy is survived by three sisters, Carnetta, Germaine and Mary M. Dirnberger, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Regina Compas, all at home.
