Mr. Hunter was born in Surry County, N.C., April 4, 1928, son of the late Monroe and Roxie Joyce Hunter. He was a farmer and paint contractor. He was a charter member of Holly Springs Ruritan Club and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hunter was born in Surry County, N.C., April 4, 1928, son of the late Monroe and Roxie Joyce Hunter. He was a farmer and paint contractor. He was a charter member of Holly Springs Ruritan Club and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Gilley Hunter of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carole Hunter and Don Walker of Winston-Salem, N.C., Pat Hunter and Charles Holcomb, and Cindy Hunter and Dennis Hicks, all of Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim C. and Teri Fulk Hunter of Raleigh, N.C.; one grandson, Brian Wolfe of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters, Tara Walker of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Jennifer Wolfe of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Catherine Wolfe and Michael Wolfe, both of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Lester Hunter and Elbert Hunter, both of Mt. Airy, N.C. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by a brother, Wes Hunter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, 1996, at 2 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Chapel conducted by Mr. Don Walker, with interment to follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy, N.C. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Roanoke Times, Aug. 14, 1996
