Description	:	Clyde R. Compton, 93, of Warrenton, died Dec. 26, 2004, at Fauquier Hospital. Born Oct. 13, 1911, in Fauquier, he was a son of the late Luther Richard Compton and Elizabeth Margarite McQueen Compton of Opal. Mr. Compton and the late Moffett Mills became partners in October 1949 and during their 13-year partnership rented, owned and operated Amoco, Esso and Gulf service stations. While they were partners, they also drove a school bus, which they owned. Compton, 93, of Warrenton, died Dec. 26, 2004, at Fauquier Hospital. Born Oct. 13, 1911, in Fauquier, he was a son of the late Luther Richard Compton and Elizabeth Margarite McQueen Compton of Opal. Mr. Compton and the late Moffett Mills became partners in October 1949 and during their 13-year partnership rented, owned and operated Amoco, Esso and Gulf service stations. Mr. Compton kept the Esso station and Mr. Mills took the Gulf station they had built. In 1968, Mr. Compton retired and sold his Esso station to the Humble Oil Co. Mr. Compton's wife, the late Clara Angeline Brown, preceded him in death Aug. 19, 1993. They raised their children in Warrenton and after retirement, spent winters in southern Florida. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Compton was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Reid and twins, Eleanor Thompson and Elsie Woodzell. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Compton Peters of Hayesville, N.C., and Mary Angeline Compton Thorp of Warrenton; a brother, James Compton of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A service took place Dec. 29 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton.
