Description	:	Darrell Glenwood Getchell of Midwest City, Oklahoma passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at the age of 79. Darrell was born on November 30th, 1940 in Patten, Maine to his parents Glenwood Getchell and Odie Richards Getchell. He graduated from Patten Academy in Patten, Maine in 1958. Darrell join the United States Air Force in September of 1961. He specialized in Communications, where he traveled all over the world to places like Iran, Turkey, and Japan. Read More	Darrell Glenwood Getchell of Midwest City, Oklahoma passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at the age of 79. Darrell was born on November 30th, 1940 in Patten, Maine to his parents Glenwood Getchell and Odie Richards Getchell. He graduated from Patten Academy in Patten, Maine in 1958. Darrell join the United States Air Force in September of 1961. He specialized in Communications, where he traveled all over the world to places like Iran, Turkey, and Japan. While in Japan he met Kiyo Nakai, they were married on March 17th, 1967, in Misawa, Japan. Darrell served in the Air Force for 30 years where he retired in October 1991 as Chief Master Sergeant of the 114 1st Special Activities Squadron, Detachment 13 OL-AC. Darrell settled down in Midwest City, Oklahoma with his wife Kiyo. They loved to travel. Darrell was an avid genealogy enthusiast. He enjoyed music, he had a vast collection of CDs that lined his office walls. Darrell and Kiyo would go to the reunions for GEEIA, Government Employees Engineering Installation Agency in San Antonio, Texas every year. Darrell is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kiyo Getchell. His sister, Lillian Gifford of Hartland, Maine. His sister, Annie Fish of Mesquite, Texas. His brother Terrence Getchell and wife Cindy of New Auburn, Maine. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Getchell of Winslow, Maine and his parents Glenwood and Odie Richards Getchell of Hartland, Maine. Darrell will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland, Maine. Services to be held by Shorey-Nichols funeral home in Pittsfield, Maine.∼It is with great sadness to report the loss of CMSgt Darrell Getchell, great friend, neighbor and husband, Saturday 25 July 2020, services not announced at this time.
