Ortmeier died Thursday, February 24, 1994, at West Point Living Center. She was born February 14, 1909, at West Point and attended Cuming County District 8 and Guardian Angels High l in West Point. She worked for 35 years in Portland, OR., before returning to West Point and retiring in 1978. Ortmeier was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the church guild. Read More	West Point-The funeral for Colette Ortmeier, 85, of West Point will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. Ortmeier died Thursday, February 24, 1994, at West Point Living Center. She was born February 14, 1909, at West Point and attended Cuming County District 8 and Guardian Angels High l in West Point. She worked for 35 years in Portland, OR., before returning to West Point and retiring in 1978. Ortmeier was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the church guild. Survivors include a sister, Madalen Petrow of Fremont; two brothers, Herman and Harvey, both of West Point. She was preceded in death by two brothers. The Rev. Gary Ostrander officiated at the Mass. Ben Stalp Funeral Home in West Point was in charge of arrangements. Burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Colette Elizabeth Ortmeier - Feb. 14, 1909*Feb. 25, 1994 "So she decided she wanted to go out west so we had relatives out there so she went out there & got a job and she had several jobs that lasted a while and then she got this job with that lumber broker and she worked there for about 30 years. And then when she was, well this is kind of an interesting story (smiling) of hers, as far as that is concerned, when the old gent, you know she was the chief cook…he was hospitalized and when he was in the hospital, my sister had to make his meals, noon meal then she would make enough for the evening meal. Of course, then after he died then the wife was pretty much a burden on my sister and I think that the rest of the family could see that so they advised that their mother go into a nursing home. So then my sister came here, lived in West Point for, she lived here quite a while. She was quite a walker… but you know all at once she gave up." - Herman Ortmeier, 2002 Interment St. Michael's Cemetery West Point.
