Description	:	Colleen L. (Points) Ehmen, age 85, York, formerly of Fairmont, was born May 19, 1935, in Dakota City, Neb. to Harry and Vivian Points and passed away April 2, 2021, in York. She graduated from Sterling High school in 1954. Colleen was married to Merlin Ehmen on Feb. 6, 1955, to this union, six children were born, five boys and one girl. (Points) Ehmen, age 85, York, formerly of Fairmont, was born May 19, 1935, in Dakota City, Neb. to Harry and Vivian Points and passed away April 2, 2021, in York. She graduated from Sterling High school in 1954. Colleen was married to Merlin Ehmen on Feb. 6, 1955, to this union, six children were born, five boys and one girl. After getting married Colleen helped Merlin on the farm until 1963. In 1963, she and Merlin bought a motel and home in Fairmont and ran it until November 1981. They then bought an acreage between Fairmont and Exeter where they moved and lived until June 21, 2002. At that time they moved back to Fairmont. In 2019 she moved to York where she was living at the time of her passing, she was currently a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She spent many years running the motel and raising their six children. She delivered the Journal Star papers for many years, often taking her grandkids along and having ice cream dates at the end of the route. Colleen spent a few years working at Stych Meat Locker in Cordova. After moving to the acreage in 1981 she helped Merlin with their many farm animals cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens. She spent many years bottle-feeding lambs, often they would become her pets and they would come right up to the fence when called by their names like a puppy. She had beautiful flower gardens that she tended to with pure love and joy for their beauty! Colleen and Merlin loved to travel near and far, having spent time in every state in the union but Hawaii. Often times they would travel to Branson, Mo. to celebrate Veteran's Day as this was a near and dear holiday for both Colleen and Merlin. She had a love for holidays and her house was always decorated for each holiday, although Christmas was her favorite and she had won many Christmas light contests. Colleen and Merlin purchased two horse statues that had a permanent place in their front yard which they often decorated for the many holidays for all the travelers along highway 6 to see. Colleen's pride and joy were her family, she and Merlin loved to attend the activities of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren following them all over the state to be in their cheering sections. Her favorite title was grandma and spoiling was her game, she always made sure her home was always stocked with their favorite snacks. Colleen and Merlin had a love for playing 10 point pitch and taught many of their kids and grandkids to play and spent many hours with multiple tables going at family holidays. Colleen is survived by her children, Rodney and Laura Ehmen of Fairmont, Kathryn and Dan Ekeler of Fairmont, SSG Ret. USA Michael and Tammy Ehmen of Garden City, Ga., Randy and Melanie Ehmen of O'Neill, Willam and Dawn Ehmen of Waco; her daughter-in-law, Lynn Ehmen of North Platte; her grandchildren, Brandon and Lindsey Ehmen, Courtney and Colbi Ragon, Dillon and Megan Ehmen, Colleen and Aaron Race, Andrew and Alissa Schick, Heather and Kyle Naber, Stephanie Grein, Christine Dunton, Christopher and Brooke Ehmen, Justin and Alexia Ehmen, Morgan and Shane Hinley, Blake and Joelle Ehmen, Brianne and Ryan Kelly, Brett and Brea Ehmen, Eric and Megan Ehmen and Cori and Jermey Williams and 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Regina Thomas and Patty Custer; sister-in-law, Wilma Voelk and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin; son. Dennis; grandchild, Baby Ehmen; great-grandson, Aydan Naber; parents, Harry and Vivian Points; siblings, Ronald Alexander, Albert Buck, Junior Buck, Jimmy Buck, and Darlene Urbanek. A special thanks to the Doctors and staff at Nebraska Heart Institute, Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center, and the York Hospital and Oncology Center. Memorials, Emmanuel-Faith Lutheran School, 806 North Beaver Avenue, York, NE 68467. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Church, 440 Ohio Street, Sterling, NE. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church.
