Description	:	DOUGLAS, Wyo. - Connie J. Lay, 61, came to meet the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at the emergency room of Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Reverend Lauran Ekdahl officiating. A memorial to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 713, Casper, Wyoming 82602 would be appreciated by the family. The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements. Connie was born Oct. 31, 1948, in Alliance the daughter of Richard Clinton Ellard and Maxine P. (Christensen) Ellard. She was raised and educated in Alliance. She married Richard Scott in Brush, Colo., and were later divorced. Connie was also married to Douglas "Buster" Lay, of Glendo, Wyo., in Douglas, and later divorced. She worked at the Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8 in Douglas until her health forced her into retirement. Survivors include her children, Shelly Minch and husband Dave Minch of Elizabeth, Colo. and Rick Scott and wife Jamie Scott of Minatare; sister, Vicki Lairson-Schleicher and husband Steve Schleicher of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Ashley, Shayleigh, Tanner, Jordan, Joshua, and Brooke; and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Brayden, and Kaleb. Preceding Connie in death was her father, Richard C. Ellard; mother, Maxine P. Hofeldt; stepfather, Edward Hofeldt; and an infant sister. Source: The Star-Herald from August 17 to August 19, 2010
