She was born October 19, 1940 in McComb to Cecial and Jenny(Nye) Thomas. On November 20, 1959 she married Leon R. McDowell and he survives. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Eric Barrett, Heather Barrett, Katie Brannan, Toby Schoonover, Jonathan Schoonover, Cody Schoonover; 2 step grandchildren; Becky Caudill, and David Caudill; and 2 step great grandchildren, Jeremiah Caudill, and Hannah Caudill. Mrs. McDowell is also survived by a brother Jim (Dorothy) Thomas of Findlay, 2 sisters Linda Doolittle of McComb, Jean McGuire of Findlay, and a sister in law Mary Thomas of Findlay. She was preceded in death by a brother Don Thomas. Mrs. McDowell retired after working 25 years at the Consolidated Biscuit Company in McComb. She was a 1958 graduate of Findlay High School. Mrs. McDowell enjoyed her grandchildren, camping, fishing, and boating. Visitation will be on Saturday July 30,2011 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Brett Kelly will be officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery. The family requests that memorials can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation
