Read More	born - Frank, Saratov, Russia Odessa Record - July 5, 1973 Conrad Stroh Jr, who was born in Frank, Russia, on Dec 18, 1892, passed away in Odessa Thursday evening, June 28. He had lived in the Odessa area since 1897. Mr. Stroh came to America with his parents when he was two years old. They were very poor, and his father worked in the shipyards in Seattle for three years to earn enough to buy supplies to homestead southeast of Odessa in 1897. Conrad received his schooling in the country schools and was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran. He and Lena Zier were united in marriage on Dec 1, 1912. They had four children; a son, Lawrence, and three daughters, Edna Peters, Alice Schmierer, and Martha Hart. They raised their family on the original homestead, where they farmed until 1959, when they retired and moved to Odessa. Mrs. Stroh died in Jan, 1969, Mr. Stroh's only sister, Anna Marie Brink, died in 1931. Since Mrs. Stroh died, Mrs. Blance Bell has served Mr. Stroh as cook and companion. He was active and well until after Father's Day two weeks ago, when all his children were home for a visit with him. His four children survive him, as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3 at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church in Odessa. Pastor Daniel Cronrath officiated. Mrs. Leo Stout was organist, while Mrs. George Gies and Mrs. Ralph Heimbigner sang two duets. Pallbearers were Roydon Schoonover, Adolph Weis, Richard Voise, David Jasman, Lloyd Tebow and Ralph.
