His funeral service will be held April 10 at Salem Congregational Church. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Conrad Wilhelm Kehn was born December 22, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the youngest of seven children born to Jacob and Anna Marie Gies Kehn, who were German Russian immigrants from Frank, Russia. Read More	Conrad W.Kehn Dec 22,1922-April 6,2014 Conrad Wilhelm Kehn, 91 passed away April 06, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center. His funeral service will be held April 10 at Salem Congregational Church. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Conrad Wilhelm Kehn was born December 22, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the youngest of seven children born to Jacob and Anna Marie Gies Kehn, who were German Russian immigrants from Frank, Russia. He lived in Lincoln as a young boy and traveled with his family to work sugar beets in Wyoming, Wisconsin and Nebraska as migrant workers. In 1931, the Kehns made Gering their permanent home where he attended school. On June 25, 1944, Conrad married Emma Schnell at Salem Congregational Church, where he was a lifetime member. To this union four children were born.Conrad's lifelong passion was farming. He farmed south of Gering with his brothers as Kehn Bros. Incorporated. He also farmed in Banner County and near Albin, Wyoming. Through the years, Conrad won numerous awards for sugar beet and wheat production. He also was on the board of directors of the Gering Valley Watershed Conservancy in 1964, was President and Vice President of the Scotts Bluff County Wheat Growers Association, and on the board of directors of Panhandle Coop.Conrad was extremely proud of his German Russian heritage and kept the stories, music, and language alive for family and friends. In later years, he wrote poetry and shared it with others. He influenced his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with his faith, positive approach on life and his work ethic.He is survived by his sister, Marie Klein; children: Marlene (Robert) Smeltzer of North Platte, NE, Dian (Don) Roth of Gering, James (Jana) Kehn of Gering, Connie (Dennis) Reifschneider of Ft. Collins, CO; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.Conrad was preceded in death by his wife Emma, his parents Jacob and Anna Marie, his brothers Jacob, Jr., Harold, John and Henry; sister Henrietta Adair, a granddaughter and a great grandson.
