She was the loving and devoted wife of Robert Albert Heap to whom she was married on November 27, 1952. (Lajoie) Heap, R.N., 74, of Guisti Drive, Attleboro, died on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a courageous health battle. She was the loving and devoted wife of Robert Albert Heap to whom she was married on November 27, 1952. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on July 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Jean Baptiste and Eva Alvina (LaCroix) Lajoie. She was raised and educated in Attleboro where she was a 1949 graduate of Attleboro High School and was a 1952 graduate of the former Sturdy Memorial School of Nursing in Attleboro. She lived in several states having accompanied her husband who was a career military man and had lived in Virginia, Alabama, Washington and Germany, among other states and countries, prior to returning to Attleboro in 1967. Mrs. Heap was employed as a registered nurse at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for 21 years prior to her retirement in 1988. A longtime and active communicant of St. Stephen's Church in the Dodgeville section of Attleboro, Mrs. Heap was awarded the Marion Medal from the Fall River Diocese in 1999. At St. Stephen's, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Parish Council and was a member of the former church Whist group. An avid reader, she also enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, cross stitching, word search puzzles, crocheting and knitting. In addition to her beloved husband of 52 years, she leaves two daughters: Susan Anne Fiske Deus of West Warwick, Rhode Island and Carol Jeanne Heap of Brockton; three grandchildren; a sister: Jeanne Paradis of Attleboro and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2005 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the "Robinson Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 9:00 AM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue , Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. James Morse, Pastor of St. Stephen's Church, Attleboro, Officiating. Private burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.
