Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Grinager officiating. Anita Gerber was the soloist accompanied by Dorothy Brugman. Interment at the Goodhue Cemetery, Florence, SD. Visitation was held on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel, and on Wednesday prior to services at the church. Pallbearers were Brian Gerber, Kelly Matteson, Mark Matteson, Randy Chilson, Michael Olson and Joel Chilson. Constance M. Paulson, the daughter of Palmer and Bertina (Ohnstad) Bergh was born on July 5, 1918 in Watertown, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Goodhue Lutheran Church near Florence. Connie attended rural school in Day County and graduated from Florence High School in 1936. She received a two year teaching certificate from Northern State Teachers College and taught for six years in the primary grades in the Watertown School System. In April of 1946 Connie began working for the GR Herberger's Inc. through 1957, with the exception of one and one-half years as office manager at Dakota Warehouse Co. On June 13, 1957 she married Melvin Paulson in the United Methodist Church at Watertown. Mr. Paulson passed away in November of 1979. Connie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Esther Fellowship Group, Elective Study Club, Chapter BQ, PEO, and was a former member of Vesta Chapter OES and Social Afternoon. She was one of the organizers of the Support Group for the Visually Impaired. Connie enjoyed following sports, and until recently she enjoyed reading, sewing and counted cross-stitch, word puzzles and talking books. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepson, Richard Paulson; and one brother, Perry Bergh. She is survived by one brother, Palmer Bergh, Jr. and his wife, Roberta of Mountain Home, ID; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bergh of Watertown, and Berniece Richardson and her husband, Paul of Owatonna, MN; and nine nieces and nephews.
