Her funeral will be Wednesday at American Lutheran Church in De Smet with the Rev. Randy Koeller officiating. Burial will follow in De Smet Cemetery. Visitation at Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet. Connie Gunderson was born Oct. 26, 1925, to Arthur and Luella (Knutson) Gunderson at Lake Preston. She graduated from Lake Preston High School. Connie Gunderson was born Oct. 26, 1925, to Arthur and Luella (Knutson) Gunderson at Lake Preston. She graduated from Lake Preston High School. She worked at Sioux Falls for a time before returning to Lake Preston. She married Dean Pirlet Aug. 19, 1947, at Pipestone, Minn. They lived on the Desire Pirlet farm and soon began farming their own land in the De Smet area. They moved into De Smet where she worked for Kingsbury County and the Soil Conservation Board. She enjoyed people and having coffee with the neighbors. She liked poetry, knitting, crocheting and Bible study. She helped with 4-H and Cub Scouts. She was a member of American Lutheran Church in De Smet and was active in Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school. She is survived by her husband; a son, Daniel (Mavis) of Aberdeen; three grandsons; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Paul and Sandra; and a brother.
