Description	:	Cora Crystal (Cotner) Bulgrin, born on December 24, 1911, was the oldest daughter born at home in Elizabeth, IN to Walter and Clara (Stevens) Cotner. When Cora was two, the family including baby sister Beulah Catherine, came to Waco, NE by train to join their father, Walter, who had found employment as a farmhand. Later on, two more siblings would join the family; namely Manford Marlow, and Jeannette Yvonne. Cora attended Waco Public Elementary and High School, graduating in 1930. Later on, two more siblings would join the family; namely Manford Marlow, and Jeannette Yvonne. Cora attended Waco Public Elementary and High School, graduating in 1930. Following graduation, she and future husband Erwin Bulgrin attended the Omaha School of Business where she studied business and bookkeeping. On March 20, 1936, she was married to Erwin in the Waco Methodist parsonage. For nearly eight years, they lived on a farm south of Waco. In 1944 they purchased Evan and Lucille Hall’s service station and the adjoining home in Waco. Cora became the bookkeeper for Bulgrin Garage and loved filling cars with gas and washing the windows. In 1946 Erwin and Cora adopted a daughter, who was three at the time they brought her home. For a short time they owned a small sandwich shop on Waco’s main street. In 1964 they sold the garage and home. In 1965 they built a new home on the west edge of Waco. After leaving the garage, Cora worked at Miller’s Paint & Cabinet Shop on the east side of York’s square. She later cleaned homes for prominent York families. Cora and Erwin loved entertaining in their big yellow house and it was her delight to entertain family and friends, even hosting a huge family reunion was not too much for them. They had a big garden and Cora canned and froze the bountiful harvest. Erwin kept a meticulous yard and they had beautiful trees and flowers. Her church and family were always her top priorities. They drove her parents to many family reunions held yearly in various states. She also became the matriarch for her sister’s family upon Beulah’s untimely death. She was a member of Waco United Methodist Church where she served as Primary Department Sunday School Superintendent for many years influencing countless children’s lives. She and Erwin also sponsored the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She served as secretary and treasurer for the United Methodist Women and a delegate to the annual United Methodist Church Conference for many years. Her cleaning efforts as church custodian were a wonderful gift. In retirement, she and Erwin took great pleasure and enjoyment visiting the sick in nursing homes. They loved traveling to interesting places in many states, usually in connection with family reunions or family ties. Blessed with good health most of her life, she was down on the floor passing out Christmas gifts with her great-nieces and nephews well into her 90’s. Declining health in 2004 sent them to Meadow Lark assisted living on York’s north edge. Three years ago she moved to Willow Brook, but most recently has made Hearthstone her home. Since celebrating her 101st birthday last December, many of her peers are no longer living, but her friends and family have kept her interested in current events as she prayed for each family member daily. She was a great prayer warrior. Always fighting the “devils” of life on earth, she easily gave God all the glory. She had a huge heart and AN OPINION ON EVERY SUBJECT……..a Hoosier through and through and a proud member of the Cotner clan. We’ll never forget the sound of her voice, her stories and traditions handed down. A touch to let you know you’re loved…….to let you know who she was. We’ll never forget the lessons she taught; the things she stood for – they are her gift = OUR LEGACY. She said to me…….tell my friends: “Never forget how to live your life and who you are.” She wants you to honor her Lord. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. Cora is survived by her daughter. Also surviving are two nieces,two nephews. Procedding her in death are her parents, her brother, Manford Cotner, and her sisters, Beulah Rice and Jene Dennis. Celebration of Life services were held, September 26, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in York. Interment followed at the Waco Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Metz Mortuary
