At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Rochester, Minn., where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Silas Dick on March 24, 1876. He preceded her in death June 16, 1933. Three children were born to this union, two dying in infancy. The third, Mrs. Lila Durand, lives in Lewellen. In her younger years she became a member of the Baptist church, and later transferred her membership to the Methodist church of Lewellen, which membership she retained until her death. Throughout her life, as long as she was able, she was an active church worker and also a Sunday School teacher. Her whole life was one of helpfulness and Christian living and her death brings sorrow and grief to those with whom she had associated since making her home in this county. Her friends were legion, and these are in sorrow through the taking away of this good and noble woman. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Lewellen Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. T. Elmer Smith, pastor, delivering the comforting sermon. I. W. Wright of this city had charge of the funeral arrangements and burial took place under his direction in the family plat in the Ash Hollow cemetery beside the body of her companion of more than half a century, who had preceded her into that better land a year and a half ago.
