Description	:	Hazel's mother died as a result of her birth. Her mother would have loved the way she lived her life. Mrs. Hazel Price, 86, 1511 Summit St., widely known as an educator, died at her home Saturday afternoon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Central Christian Church, the Rev. Timothy Murtaugh in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. She was born March 1, 1898, in Laurel, the daughter of Leonard and Cora Gordon Van Allen. Mrs. Hazel Price, 86, 1511 Summit St., widely known as an educator, died at her home Saturday afternoon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Central Christian Church, the Rev. Timothy Murtaugh in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. She was born March 1, 1898, in Laurel, the daughter of Leonard and Cora Gordon Van Allen. She married Lee Price Oct. 4, 1919, in Marshalltown. He preceded her in death in 1964. Survivors include three sons. Lee, Norwalk ; Gordon, Fort Worth. Texas, and David Price, Marshalltown, also 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Price was reared and educated in Laurel and Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1915. She also was graduated from the Grinnell College Normal Training program and later received her BS degree from Drake University. She was employed by the Marshalltown School District as a Special Education instructor. She also was active in establishing the Adult Education program in Marshalltown. She retired in 1963 from the Special Education unit. and in 1983 from the Adult Education program. Mrs. Price was a member of the Central Christian Church, the Iowa State Education Association, National Retired Teachers Association, Iowa Association of Adult Education. She was an Elder Emeritus of the Central Christian Church. from Marshalltown IA newspaper Times Republican dated November 11 1984
