Lois was born in Marion County on November 13, 1911, the oldest of five children born to Verner and Ruby Knoblock. She attended the Knoblock School and graduated from Ocala High School. Read More	Gainesville, FL - Cora Lois Knoblock Mimms, age 102, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Southwest Retirement Home. Lois was born in Marion County on November 13, 1911, the oldest of five children born to Verner and Ruby Knoblock. She attended the Knoblock School and graduated from Ocala High School. She married Duke Sylvan Mimms and they shared 63 years together. Lois and Duke were blessed with one child, Anita Bell Mimms. Lois loved the Lord and her family, devoting her life to Duke, Anita, and her church. She loved teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and cooking many meals for the congregation of Carol Estates Baptist Church. She was Girl Scout troop leader, a long time member of the Alachua County Homemakers Extension, and a member of Country Crossroads Baptist Church (formerly known as Carol Estates Baptist). Lois was an amazing seamstress and made almost everything she and Anita wore. She also enjoyed knitting, tatting, crocheting, crafts and cooking. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duke, and sisters Eleanor Mimms, Marguerite Lyles, and Eva Bratcher. She is survived by her daughter, Anita, one brother, V.E. "Bud" Knoblock (Myra) of Ocala, and many nieces and nephews. Lois's nephew, Wayne Bratcher and his wife Brenda had the honor of assisting Lois in her last years. They would like to thank the following people for all of their love and support: Anita; the angels at Southwest Retirement Home: Jennifer Go, Mr. Go, Linda, Jenny, Jessie, Pat, Annette, Josh, Lance, Jewel and the many residents; Brenda's family Bill, Evelyn and Connie Purvis; Annette Johnson, Brother Ray DeBusk, Dr. Julie Zhu, and all the wonderful caregivers at Nature Coast Hospice. These folks did everything in their power to make sure Lois's last years were the best possible, and their love is greatly appreciated. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Southwest Retirement Home, 3207 SW 42nd Place, Gainesville, FL 32608.
