Mrs King, who was 96 years old, died Friday, Nov 26, 1993, in Odessa, where she had lived for the past 60 years. Recently she had been a resident of Odessa Convalescent Center. She was born Feb 10, 1897 in Wilbur, the daughter of William and Kittie Scheibner. She was graduated from Wilbur High school in 1914. She attended the College of Puget sound, where she was graduated with a degree in mathematics. She taught in various high schools, then returned to the College of Puget Sound for her master's degree. She married A A King, one of the first settlers in Odessa, in 1933. For many years, they operated a dairy at the eastern edge of Odessa. Mr King died in 1969. Mrs King was a member of the Heritage UCC, and she had been active in one of Heritage UCC predecessor congregations, the English Congregational Church of Odessa. She was a charter and 50-year-plus member of the Odessa Grange and a member of the Women of the Woodcraft and the Odessa Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers. She is survived by two sons, Arnold King, of Davenport, and Richard ‘Dick' King, of Howe, IN; three daughters, Esther Bunker, of Vancouver, WA, and Mildred Earle and Cordie (Teigs) Porter, both of Spokane; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Al Scheibner of Odessa; one sister, Nellie Scheibner, of Odessa, and numerous nieces and nephews. Strate Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
