Description	:	Cora May Gates Schaefer was born at Garner, iowa on May 25th, 1899. The eldest of the family of Fred and Cecelia Nesbit Gates. As a young girl she attended rueal schools near her home, and later was gradusted from the Klemme Hich School. On June 6, 1917 she was united in marriage to Roy Schaefer. Together they commenced housekeeping on a farm west of Klemme where they lived for 24 years. Eight children were born to the couple. In 1941 they moved from the farm into their home in Klemme. She had the opportunity to celebrate her golden... Read More	Cora May Gates Schaefer was born at Garner, iowa on May 25th, 1899. The eldest of the family of Fred and Cecelia Nesbit Gates. As a young girl she attended rueal schools near her home, and later was gradusted from the Klemme Hich School. On June 6, 1917 she was united in marriage to Roy Schaefer. Together they commenced housekeeping on a farm west of Klemme where they lived for 24 years. Eight children were born to the couple. In 1941 they moved from the farm into their home in Klemme. She had the opportunity to celebrate her golden wedding anniversary on June 6th 1967. Mrs Schaefer sufferd a severe stroke in February, resulting in hospitalization. She passed away at the Hancock County Memorial Hosptial in Britt on Sunday morning, April 26th. She was 70 years of age. She had been an active member of the Methodist Churc, the W.S.C.S., the Legion Auxiliary and the Grandmothers Club. Surviving are her husband, Roy of Klemme and her eight children; Merle Schaefer, Los Angeles, Californis, Violet, Mrs Emory Weaver of Garner, Eugene Schaefer of Milford, Calvin Schaefer of Palmadale, California, Rose, Mrs Dennis Trca of Garner, Iris, Mrs Junior Rayhons of Garner and Daisy, Mrs Ed Barz, of Kanawha; also there are twenty five grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Four sisters and one brother. Mrs Ben Riemer of Garner, Mrs Ben Ridder of Klemme, Mrs Roy Martinson of Blomington, Minnesots, Mrs Kenneth Garver of Waterloo and Lawrence Gates of Van Nuys, California. Also one Aunt, mrs Nora Latham of Prarie View Apts. She was prededed in death by her parents and infant brother and one grandchild. Pallbearers were Bob Cavitt, Dale Brede, Roy Arnold, Maurice Trumbell, John Schwichtenberg and Russell Thorson.
