Description	:	Cora Stevenson was the great great great grand daughter of Major John Stevenson of the Revolutionary War who had gone to Vincennes with George Rogers Clark during the War of 1812. Her ancestors were among the earliest settlers of the old northwest a proud family lineage that connects with two United States Presidents. Cora married Edward Clark Lisle who descended from another early family of Hardin County and together they raised four children. Read More	Cora Stevenson was the great great great grand daughter of Major John Stevenson of the Revolutionary War who had gone to Vincennes with George Rogers Clark during the War of 1812. Her ancestors were among the earliest settlers of the old northwest a proud family lineage that connects with two United States Presidents. Cora married Edward Clark Lisle who descended from another early family of Hardin County and together they raised four children. Her youngest child Byron Donal Liles (1909-1911) is interred in the family garden, he had died quite young. He was the only child that had the original spelling of the family surname of Liles, which had been changed under the influence of important relatives who resided in Manhattan and Paris, France who had done the same. The other four reached their maturity and they were Jennie Elizabeth (1897-1976) whom graduated from Valparaiso University, and partook in the Dune Pageant of 1917 to establish what in 1966 became the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Later Jennie became a schoolteacher in South Dakota where she had remained. Eva Marie Lisle (1899-1987) also graduated from Valparaiso University and became a schoolteacher; Alta Tiona Lisle (1902-1988) married into the Kirk family that owned the Indianapolis Power & Electric Company and the East Chicago Water Works; Russell Eldon Lisle, (1905-1984) served in the US Navy where he was injured. As an electrician he had worked with erecting the Empire State Building in New York City.
