COOLEY DIES; ILL 5 YEARS Funeral Services Will Be Held Sunday at 2:30 From Newman Ave. Home Mrs. Corella Bare Cooley, wife of O.B. Cooley, Harrisonburg realtor, and a beloved resident of the city for the past eleven years, died at 9:15 last night at her home on Newman avenue. She had been in feeble health for five years and paid frequent visits to Baltimore hospitals in order to obtain relief. She has been critically ill for the past four months. Mrs. Cooley was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and was active in its work until her health forced her to retire. She was woman loved by all and bore her prolonged suffering with Christian zeal. She was a daughter of Jacob M. and Mary Hawpe Bare, being born and reared near Greenville, in Augusta county. She was united in marriage with Mr. Cooley in 1890. They resided on the Cooley farm just north of Harrisonburg until moving into the city in 1919. Her husband; three sons -- Warren M., Talmadge R., and Orville O., all of Harrisonburg; three brothers -- John H. Bare, Bloomington, Ill; Lynn H. Bare, Staunton, and R.W. Bare, Richmond; and two sisters -- Mrs. Kate Lambert, Staunton, and Miss Alma Bare, Baltimore, survive. Funeral services will be held from the Newman avenue residence Sunday at 2:30, Dr. G.G. Martin, assisted by Dr. B.F. Wilson, officiating. She will be laid to rest in Woodbine. Daily News Record -- Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Virginia -- December 6, 1930 -- Saturday -- Page #1. MRS. COOLEY'S FUNERAL Funeral services for Mrs. Corella Cooley, wife of O.S. Cooley of Harrisonburg, held Sunday at two-thirty p.m. from the residence, were largely attended. There was a great profusion of floral tributes. Mrs. Cooley was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Martin, in a brief funeral sermon, told of her steadfast faith often expressed both before and during her illness. Mrs. Cooley was in failing health for about 5 years and had spent considerable time in hospitals, among them a Baltimore institution. She was critically ill for nearly 6 months. Dr. B.F. Wilson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, Harrisonburg, also participated in the service. Two hymns were beautifully rendered by singers from the choir of the Methodist church. Interment was in a vault in the Harrisonburg cemetery. A number of relatives and friends from Staunton and the county were in attendance.
