Bohlig, 62, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Corey Jerome Bohlig was born on July 16, 1956 in Devils Lake, ND, a son of John W. and Valeria (Hoeft) Bohlig. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1974. He then attended St. John University in Collegeville, MN, for one year before graduating from Minot State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Corey began his teaching career for the Minot Public School system at Ramstad Junior High School in 1980. He then taught at Central Campus for a time before teaching at Jim Hill Junior High School. He had taught history, social studies and geography for 36 years, retiring in May of 2015. He was also active in coaching wrestling, football and track. Teaching was his greatest accomplishment, changing the life of a student and watching them grow into a life that he touched. Corey married Valerie J. Sigloh on May 13, 1994 at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Minot. Corey had many passions in life, including the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, reading about history and traveling adventures, including the Lewis and Clark Trail. His dogs, including the late Buddy, Ginger, and Sammy and the current Marley, were his pride and joy and he loved them as he would his own children. Corey’s true passion came alive due to his tremendous Catholic faith. Joining the Knights of Columbus really taught him about how he should live his life, through volunteer efforts and service. Corey was a mainstay in all activities of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. The Knights were the brothers that Corey never had. He thoroughly enjoyed his many mornings of cooking at church fellowship breakfasts, volunteering with the Serra Club to encourage young seminarians, local and statewide Knights of Columbus activities, and so much more. Corey loved life and whatever he was involved in, he gave his all to do his best. His faith and family were the most important things in his life. He felt so blessed to be able to spend time with his nieces and nephews, especially this past June. He was able, despite his illness, to attend the wedding of his nephew Aaron, spending quality time with his family. To know Corey was to have a beer and play cards with good times, good people, good cheers. We will never forget his jovial laugh that could be heard throughout a room. Corey was preceded in death by his father, John; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darel and Nelyda Sigloh; grandparents, John and Charlotte Bohlig and Herbert and Edna Hoeft; and several aunts and uncles.
