Here she quickly gained a place in the affection of her hausband's friends and by her sweet womanly ways has helped to extend the circle of friendship to the bounds of the entire community. Here she quickly gained a place in the affection of her hausband's friends and by her sweet womanly ways has helped to extend the circle of friendship to the bounds of the entire community. Three children were given to this union, Frances Josephine, Theodore Harkness and Byron Oliver. She carefully traced the genealogy of her father's family and also the ancestry of her mother and claimed and gained a place in the membership of the ____Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. With the outbreak of the war she devoted her energies to Red Cross and other war work. She possessed an intense patriotism and seemed happiest when doing something for the people in the service. It was while engaged in her Red Cross Christmas package work that she became ill and was compelled to remain at her home. She had nearly finished the work at hand last November when her strength failed for she had devoted many long hours to this branch of the service. She took much joy in doing for the boys over there and it was her wish to soon regain her health and continue in the work. The end came on Sturday morning April 12th at 5:00 o'clock. She had been resting quite comfortably during the night and at 4:00 o'clock when the nurse was last with her, she was having a restful sleep. A few minutes before five the nurse again went to the bedside and had scarcely reached her when she passed on. The end was peaceful and without a struggle, The cause of death was pulmonary embolism.
