The remains of Mrs. Philip Pfaffman were brought here from Kendallville Sunday afternoon and interred in the Waterloo cemetery, the funeral having been held from the St. John's Lutheran church in Kendallville with the Rev. Concerning the death of Mrs. Pfaffman, the Kendallville News-sun, Friday evening, says: Mrs. Cornelia Pfaffman, wife of Philip Pfaffman, died at her home, 124 South Morton street, at 2:45 o'clock Friday morning, after an illness of several years and many months of patient suffering. Death was the result of a cancer and tumerous growth. Bedfast since November, 1914, and fully realizing she could never recover, she was a very patient sufferer to the very end. Born in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Cornelia Pfaffman, was born in Myerstown, Pa., in 1854, and at the time of death was sixty-one years old. She came to this section of the country some years ago and located at Ashley. Her maden name was Cornelia Cluff and she was first united in marriage to Cyrus Batdorf. To this union three sons were born, one of whom survives, William Batdorf of Auburn. Mrs. Pfaffman came to this city seven years ago, shortly after her marriage to Mr. Pfaffman, and has lived here ever since. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, and was always ready to help a friend in need. Several years ago she was taken ill and in May, 1914, she submitted to an operation in a Ft. Wayne hospital, when it was discovered that she was afflicted with a cancerous and tumerous growth. Every medical attention was provided, but no hopes of her recovery were entertained. Mrs. Pfaffman was identified with the St. John's Lutheran church of this city and always took an active part in church circles. Surviving besides a husband and one son, William Batdorf, of Auburn, are three step-sons, Walter Pfaffman, of this city, Albert of Waynesboro, Miss., and George of Auburn, Ala.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Strauss and Miss Anna Pfaffman, of Virginia, Minn., and Mrs. Emma Sharp, of Big Rapids, Mich.; and three brothers and one sister.
