Mrs. Burgess was of a singularly modest and retiring disposition, but while shrinking away from any publicity, she was ever loyal and true to her church, faithfully living up to the vows she took to support its ordinance. Never when she was physically able to be there, was her place empty when the church was open, and she often said that she did not see how she could live without the joy and comfort which the Sunday school, church service, prayer meeting, and missionary society brought her. As a Missionary Society Be It Resolved that we miss her gentle presence, but how resigned to the will of Him who makes no mistakes, realizing that in calling her to Himself, He has spared her many sorrows in the dark sad days through which we are passing. Resolved II, That we deeply sympathize with her children and grandchildren and large circle of relatives and friends who “long for the touch of a vanished hand and the sound of a voice that is still.” Resolved III, That a page in our minutes be inscribed to her memory and that copies of these resolutions be sent to her family and to the Herald and Manning Times for publications Mrs. Joseph Sprott Mrs. R.
