He began working for the Union Pacific Railroad from North Plat NE to Cheyenne WY. On his off time he took the cows to the Wild Horse Spring for water. There he met Rosa who had brought her cows there for water also. They were married in Grant and left for a home Wike had prepared for them in Cheyenne WY. Here 6 children were born. "Charlie", as he was called by his friends, took a job in 1903 on the Frisco Railroad line from Fort Scott Kansas into Indian Territory OK. The family removed to Sapulpa OK where their last 2 girls were born. In 1911 They removed to Denver Co. Charlie was a Conductor on the Rio Grand Railroad from Denver to Tabernash and was on the 1st train through the Moffat Tunnel when it opened. He retired from the Railroad in 1940 with 45 years service. Charlie was a Large Man and a master carpenter by trade, like his father. He built all the log homes in Tabernash during his off time from the Railroad. He was an expert at notching the logs and notched every log that he placed in these homes. He was The Constable of Tabernash during the rough and wild railroad days until his death in 1940. He loved to fish and would take the early train to Hot Sulphur Springs and fish all the way back home with his creel full of trout. Charlie was a kind and generous man as was his wife. Charlie and Rosa played for many dances. Charlie the Violin and Rosa the Piano. BROTHER of Anna Maria Large, Lemon, Butler Isaiah Paxson Large William Henry Large Jr.
