Description	:	Born probably in Lincolnshire, England. No baptism has yet been found. He is almost certainly a natural son of the John Farnsworth who died in Syracuse in 1856 (see family link below). In the 1841 census of Kirkby on Bain, Lincolnshire, England Grant lived in the same tiny town as his paternal grandparents. By then John Farnsworth and his family had gone to America. In the 1841 census of Kirkby on Bain, Lincolnshire, England Grant lived in the same tiny town as his paternal grandparents. By then John Farnsworth and his family had gone to America. When he married, Grant said his father was John Farnsworth, innkeeper (which John was). When Grant arrived in the US with his new wife on 2 May 1851 on the ship Vandalia he came to Syracuse where John Farnsworth owned a hotel. Grant was remembered in John's will as Cornelis Grant Farnsworth, but he was not specifically mentioned as a son or listed as a legal heir. Finally, Grant first traveled to Iowa with John G. Farnsworth who John Farnsworth, Sr. acknowledged in his will as his son and executor. Grant Farnsworth married Sabina Wright at Waddington, Lincolnshire, England on 4 June 1850. They came to the US and first lived in Syracuse, Onondaga, County, NY where their first two sons, William Grant and John were born. By the 1860 census, they were living in Table Mound Township and later Prairie Creek Township, Dubuque County, Iowa where they were still present in the 1880 census. Sometime before the 1900 census Grant and Sabina moved to Pleasant Grove Township, Brule County, South Dakota with their children where they spent the rest of their lives. Grant and Sabina (Wright) Farnsworth had 8 surviving children most of whom remained in South Dakota. 1. William Grant Farnsworth = Hannah Collings 2. John Farnsworth never married 3.
