Read More	Obituary February 9, 2014 \| Bellingham Herald, The (WA) Section: Obituaries Cornelius (Cornie) Rientjes was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada on January 18, 1913 and was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2014 as he heard the words, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Cornie was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; his daughter, Joyce Badgley; his mother and father, Jan and Wilhelmina Rientjes; three brothers, Gerrit, Bert and John Rientjes; and two sisters, Della Fakkema and Fan Reipma. Cornie was a beloved father to his daughters and their spouses and a much loved grandfather. He deeply loved his extended family and enjoyed nothing more than the time spent with them, especially those "Rientjes" songfests. Cornie was not only a Pastor, but a caring friend. He gave his all for the Lord as he and his wife pastored churches in Bellevue, Harrah, Arlington and Lynden as well as being missionaries to Alaska. After his retirement God used him in many churches that were in need of a spiritual father and shepherd. He finally retired at 96, but still spent many hours in prayer until his passing. All who ever met Cornie knew he always had a song on his lips and in his heart. He lived Psalm 89:1 "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations." The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Greens and special friend Deanna Ross, as they lovingly cared for Cornie the last week of his life. It meant so much to all of us and we couldn't have done it without you. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, February 22, 11:30 am in Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a 1:00 pm memorial service at Sunrise Baptist Church, 2480 W. Badger Rd., Custer. Memorials may be made in Cornie's name to the Northwest University, Cornelius Rientjes Scholarship Fund, Giving Office, PO Box 579, Kirkland, WA 98083-0579.
