Description	:	Highland Recorder January 12, 1900 Cornelius Colaw who died at his home in Crabbottom on Jan. 5th. was one of the County's most highly respected and substantial christan citizens. His death, at a good old age, brought to a close a life of thorough uprightness, which is unassilable and worthy of close imitation. Mr. Colaw was born in April 1819, in the same neighborhood in which his useful life was spent. His death, at a good old age, brought to a close a life of thorough uprightness, which is unassilable and worthy of close imitation. Mr. Colaw was born in April 1819, in the same neighborhood in which his useful life was spent. Per one of his age he had been enjoying good health, until on the 29th of December the sickness to which proved to be his last suffering, came upon him. Mr. Colaw had been a faithful member of and an earnest worker inthe M.E. Church for over 60 years. The death of his wife, which occured in 1895, closed a happy union in marriage which covered a period of nearly half a century. Of his family now living are his two brothers Jonas and Allen Colaw, and of his immediate family are his two sons, Anderson, who resides in Crabbottom, and John M., Commonwealth's attorney for this county and two daughters, Mrs. Mike Mauzy and Mrs. Early Snyder both living in Crabbottom. On Sunday morning, the 7thh Inst, after a funeral service by his pastor, Rev. Barnes, at the Brick church, the remains of the deceased were interred in the family burying ground on the old home farm, on which Mr. Jonas Colaw now resides. Mr. Colaw, born in 1819 and lived in the Crabbottom area his whole life. The northern sections of Highland were part of Pendleton County Va until 1847.
