Description	:	Mr. Cornelius Schelling died at his home in Sioux Center at 2:00 o'clock Friday morning, Feb. 14, following a lingering illness. He had been in ill health, for the past three years and Was critically ill for the past two weeks having suffered a stroke. He had reached the age of 74 years and 5 months. Read More	Mr. Cornelius Schelling died at his home in Sioux Center at 2:00 o'clock Friday morning, Feb. 14, following a lingering illness. Cornelius Schelling was born on September 14, 1872 at Goudswaard Zuid Holland, Netherlands. He came to America on April 18, 1803 and lived at Crook, Colo. For a short time and from there came to Sioux Center where he has lived since. On January 19, 1895 he was united in marriage to Hendrika Kastein and tot this union 12 children were born, 7 sons and 5 daughters. His wife precede him in death om July 14. 1930. Also preceding him in death was a daughter Emma, Mrs. A. Van Bochove, who died on Feb. 15. 1922, and 7 grandchildren. On June 25, 1940 he was married to Mrs. Alyda Harskamp. Surviving are his wife; and the following children: Rochus of Hawarden, Fredrieka (Mrs. Ed Van De Brink), of Sioux Center,.William of Doon, Lane of Ireton, Dinardus of Rock Valley, John of Sioux Center, Elizabeth (Mrs. John Van Grootheest) of Fairview, Ralph of Doon, Juliana (Mrs. Peter Van Beek) of Inwood, Ella Marie at home, and Paul of Hull. Also surviving are 52 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one sister (Mrs. Rochus Schelling of Goudswaard, Netherlands) and a large number of stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Schelling farmed west of Sioux Center all his married live until he retired in 1941 and moved to Sioux Center. He served as an Elder of the Netherlands Ref. Church for over 33 years. He helped organize several of the Cooperatives of Sioux Center and served on the boards. He served on the first board of the Coop. Society which was organized in 1907 and was associated with this board for 25 years. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon February 16, at 12:30 at the home and 2:00 at the Netherlands Reformed Church. Rev. J. van Zweden officiating. Burial wa in the local cemetery.
