"Neal" Albrecht, 64, Woodbury, Minn., died peacefully at home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Cornelius Wilhelm Albrecht, son of Christina (Hoffman) and Wilhelm Albrecht, was the youngest of nine children born on his parent's farm east of Long Lake, S.D., on Feb. 26, 1941. This is where he was raised and educated through eighth grade. He attended high school in Hosmer, graduating with the HHS Class of 1959. He attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for one year, Northern State University in Aberdeen briefly, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, graduating with a degree in chemistry. He married his high school sweetheart, Inez Kunde of Hosmer, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer, on Aug. 11, 1963. In 1966, they settled in St. Paul, Minn., where they started and raised their family and became members of Grace Lutheran Church. Neal's life revolved around his family and providing for them. Neal did research in the Magnetic Tapes Division of 3M Companies and later was promoted to senior specialist in technology studies for 3M Corporate Technical Planning. They built their dream home and moved to Woodbury in 1989. Neal retired from 3M in 1998 and continued living in Woodbury for the remainder of his life. Neal was a true "do-it-yourselfer" and was very proficient at building, repairing or creating most anything. In retirement he continued his "hobby" job of managing the apartment buildings that he owned in St. Paul. He also had his securities license and enjoyed doing financial planning with Crown Capital Securities out of California. He will be remembered for his musical ability, especially being able to play the accordion and piano by ear. His love, ingenuity, and gentle manner will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Some of Neal's final words to his family were "I am so blessed." Neal is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Inez (Kunde), and two children, Lisa and Mark, who reside in the Twin Cities; brothers Leonhard Albrecht and Milbert (LaVern) Albrecht of Aberdeen; sisters Olga (Gerhardt) Kempf of Ashley, N.D., Hilda Klipfel of Kennewick, Wash., LaVina Meier of Long Lake, and Ermina Aman of Hosmer; sisters-in-law Violet Albrecht of Lodi, Calif., Elodie Schmierer of Bowdle, S.D., Joy (Don) Wander of Elk River, Minn.; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Walter. Casketbearers will be nephews of Neal's: Allen Aman of Leola, Dale Aman and Karlon Kempf of Aberdeen, Robert Kempf of Ashley, Clark Aman of Bismarck, N.D., and Carl Meier of Rochester, Minn. Honorary casketbearers will be nieces Diane (Kempf) Jorgenson, Peggy (Aman) Salwei, Ina Mae (Albrecht) Schock, Kay Ellen Albrecht, Pam (Albrecht) Bettmeng, Paula (Albrecht) De'Pent, Patricia Albrecht, JoAnn Meier, and Josie Tarnutzer. Organist will be Wesley Schaible and there will be an accordion selection by Allen Aman. Ushers will be Werner Mohr and Floyd Mohr. Miller Funeral Home of Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.
