Read More	Cornie married Harriet Ruys on June 10, 1921 in Hull, Iowa. Cornie and Harriet are the parents of one daughter: Kathleen b. 1929 Cornie B. Schaap, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Schaap was born May 30, 1893 near Ackley, IA and moved to Hull with his parents at the age of 18. He graduated from the Hull High School in 1916 and served in the World War I for 6 months. In 1921 he was united in marriage to Miss Harriet Ruys. To this union one daughter was born. His mother preceded him in death in 1931. He had been the city assessor for several years and was a cashier of the former First National Bank here for many years. He was always among the group presenting the Sioux band concerts. He was a member of the local Christian Ref. Church and a member of the board of its Christian school. The past 10 years he had been in Insurance work. A month ago Mr. Schaap decided after a siege of illness in his home to consult medical aid in the Des Moines Veterans Hospital where he was found to be suffering from hardening of the arteries and complications. His condition became gradually worse and on Friday March 20 his family was called to his bedside. At 4 o'clock Sunday morning March 22 he passed away. He is survived by the widow, the 13 year old daughter, Kathleen and his father, 80 years of age. The funeral was held at the home and at the Chr. Ref. Chuch on Wed. afternoon, with Revs R. L. Haan and R. A. Jager officiating. The Legion members of Wegemen Post were pall bearers and the members attended the body. Interment was in Hope Cemetery in charge of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Service of Sioux Center.
