Donny was born in Utica, New York., on February 23, 1929, to Herbert and Edith (Gove) Lott. Donny was inducted into the Army on May 11, 1951. Ashland — Donald Lott, 81, of North Ashland Road, Ashland, passed away at home on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Donny was born in Utica, New York., on February 23, 1929, to Herbert and Edith (Gove) Lott. Donny was inducted into the Army on May 11, 1951. He completed his Infantry and Artillery training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and Fort Lawton, Washington. On October 24, 1951, he was assigned to the 48th field Artillery Battalion in South Korea. During his tour of duty, which lasted until September 14, 1952, he received the Commendation Medal along with two service Bronze Stars for his outstanding performance and conscientious attitude. Donald received his Honorable Discharge on August 7, 1956. Donny lived most of his life in Ashland and worked at the Ashland Paper Mill for many years. He later retired from Pike Industries after 31 years of service. He continued working at his home on small-engine repairs for the last several years. Donny was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Everett. Donny is survived by his wife, Rita (Morrison); four children, Steven, John , Susan and Dana; a brother, Willis and his wife, Jean; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Donny was a wonderful father, a gentleman and a gentle man. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the Green Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Ashland, on Friday, July 16, at 10 a.m. The Reverend Edward J Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Donny's memory to the American Cancer Society, Northern New England Region, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford NH 03110. Mayhew Funeral Homes of Meredith and Plymouth are handling the arrangements.
