Description	:	Anamosa---Galen John Engelbart, 74, of rural Anamosa, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, May 2, 2005 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. the Rev. Eugene Schipper officiated at the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Laverne; two sisters, Joyce Engelbart and Arlene Kirkpatrick and a brother-in-law Keith Kirkpatrick. Galen was born Sept 30, 1930 at Amber Iowa. He was the son of Herman and Grace Bodeker-Engelbart. Galen graduated from Anamosa High School in 1949. Galen married Janet Arlene Steuri on Nov. 18, 1956 and later divorced. He served in the US Army in the second armor division in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Galen and Janet farmed south of Amber, which is also Lasso E. RV. Galen was employed by Collins Radio for 23 years. Lasso E Camper Sales was started in 1960 by Galen, Janet and the children, Lasso E Camper Club was started by Galen and he became the sponsor of four additional Coachman Camper Clubs. he was also a member of the Recreational Vehicle Dealer Association. Galen was an avid Anamosa Raider fan and sponsored many school and community activities. Galen loved to follow the Hawkeye's. He love to hunt and fish. he was very proud of his grandchildren. he liked to go on annual trips to the circus, Wyoming Christmas lights, wildlife watching and fishing at Lake Pepin, Minnesota. He was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He always like to attend the grandchildren's school activities and included them in the parades [to throw candy] and at the local Jones County Fair to help with the displays. Galen held many events at Lasso E- dances, breakfasts in appreciation of his customers, family and friends. Galen enjoyed his outings with friends at the Dog Track and his many adventures. he was a member and supporter of many outdoor wildlife organizations. Holidays with the entire Engelbart family were a special time for Galen. He made these events extra special like at Easter with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. submitted by Sharon Brodersen Lindbloom
