Description	:	US Marine Cpl Robert Harold Pettit, Vietnam Veteran, native of Charlotte, NC. US Marine Corporal Robert Harold Pettit was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, CPL Pettit served our country until April 5th, 1967 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam. He was 22 years old and was married. It was reported that Robert died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Robert was born on October 1st, 1944 in Greenville, South Carolina. Marine Cpl Robert H Pettit, 22, a veteran of three years with the US Marine Corps, was killed in action April 5th. Born in Greenville, SC, Pettit was raised in Charlotte where he attended Garinger High School. Survivors include his wife, the former Juanita Karen Hughes of Lenoir, his father, Robert R Pettit of Ellenboro; his grandmother, Mrs Catherine Pettit, also of Ellenboro.
