Burial was held later Monday at Fremont, Nebraska. Clayton was born January 14, 1937 in Fremont, Nebraska, the son of Alfred and Hazel Clayton. He married Mary Kilcoin in Fremont on September 16, 1963. As a construction worker he and his family moved around Nebraska, Kansas and Wyoming, and they had lived in Glendo the past two years. He was a backhoe operator for Hensel Phelps Construction Company of Greeley, Colorado. Clayton was a member of Operating Engineers Union Number 400, and the Moose Lodge of Laramie. Survivors include his wife Mary; two sons, Jeffery Todd and Robert Leroy Jr.; two daughters, Marilyn Ranee and Roberta Louise, all of Glendo. Also surviving are his mother, Hazel, Fremont, Neb.; six brothers, Alfred Clayton, Jr., Klamath, Ore.; Raymond, Clarence, Harold, Gerald, and Charles, all of Fremont; two sisters, Darlene Shellanager, Superior, Colo., and Dorothy Clayton, Cozad, Neb. A memorial has been established and contributions can be mailed to Robert L. Clayton Memorial, Box 201, Glendo.
