OH 176th Infantry He was Mustered Out on 6/14/1865 at Nashville, TN Clarinda Journal (Clarinda, Iowa), Thursday, April 1, 1915, p. 10 Concerning the death of William Murren, the following has been furnished to The Journal: William Murren, the eldest son of Thomas V. [ernon] and Eliza Murren was born Aug. 12, 1840, in Pike County O., and died at his home near Braddyville, March 27, 1915, at the age of 74 years 7 months and 15 days. His mother was a sister of Bishop Merrill of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was married to Rebecca Wilbur [Wilburn] and to this union were born twelve children, of whom two died in infancy and ten survive him, namely: Thomas, Ezra, John, Dawson, Frank, Rhody, Edgar, Orville, Etta and Jesse. He is also survived by thirty-eight grandchildren and by one brother and four sisters. He served his country in the Civil war as a member of Company K of the One Hundred and Seventy-sixth regiment of Ohio volunteers, from which he was honorably discharged at the close of his term of service. He thereupon returned to his family in Ohio and a few years later brought his family overland to Marion County, Ia. After some years he removed to Taylor County; and then to western Kansas. Upon the death of his wife he returned to Iowa, was married to Mrs. Eliza England, a sister of his first wife and spent his remaining years on his farm near Braddyville. His widow survives him. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Roy W. Thomas of the Methodist Episcopal church at the home Sunday morning, March 28, and the body was interred in the cemetery at New Market. b. Pike County, Ohio d. Braddyville, Iowa. Age 74
