Description	:	Coy Jasper Burgin Coy Jasper Burgin, 87, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home. He was born in Lincoln County, son of the late Finley and Effie McAllister Burgin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and three great grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. He was born in Lincoln County, son of the late Finley and Effie McAllister Burgin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and three great grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a former RA leader and ball coach. Mr. Burgin was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Bubbas Backyard BBQ Cooking Team. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Opal Brotherton Burgin; four children, Michael Burgin and wife Robbie and Jerry Burgin and wife Pam all of Alexis, Rebecca Huddle of Gastonia, and Barbara Kennedy and husband Dwight of Iron Station; three sisters, Penta Love of St. Simmons, Ga., Betty Sherer and husband Charles and Lela Nixon and husband Bill all of Denver; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Burgin will be held 4 p.m. today April 13, 2016 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Alexis. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Stacy Hovis Hall Fund, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, PO Box 70 Alexis NC 28006 Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly is serving the Burgin family.
