Description	:	Corporal Orville Woodin Herman Orville Woodin, youngest son of Frank and Frances A. Woodin, was born July 7, 1895, at their home, at that time, in Des Moines township, Van Buren county, Iowa. He was killed in action near Sergy, France, July 30, 1918, aged 23 years and 23 days. He entered the public school at Keosauqua when 5 years old, and attended there two years, after which he went with his mother to Montana. Woodin, was born July 7, 1895, at their home, at that time, in Des Moines township, Van Buren county, Iowa. He was killed in action near Sergy, France, July 30, 1918, aged 23 years and 23 days. He entered the public school at Keosauqua when 5 years old, and attended there two years, after which he went with his mother to Montana. In 1904 he entered the public schools at Pony, Montana., and graduated in 1914. In 1915 he took a years training at Blair Business college at Spokane, Wash., and the next year cam to Iowa and entered college at Highland Park, Des Moines, and was a student there when he enlisted in May, 1917, in the National Guard, and after being honorably discharged he was drafted into Co. B, 168th Inf. A.E. F. and sailed to France with the Rainbow division. Funeral services were held in the park at Leando, Sunday afternoon, August 7, 1921 in charge of George Jones, commander of Reneker Post A.L., of Douds. Music was furnished by the Douds orchestra and the singing was by a quartet of Legion boys from Birmingham. Rev. Chas. L. Ellis of Douds delivered an appropriate address to a large company of people. After the services the remains were taken to the Hoskin cemetery in Des Moines township, a few miles northeast of Cantril, where they laid to rest with military honors.
