Description	:	Robert W. “Bob” Orthwein, 88, of Napoleon, formerly of Hamler, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon. He was born on the family farm near Malinta on March 16, 1926 to Edwin and Mathilda (Rettig) Orthwein. He married Alma Godeke on June 24, 1962 at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2009. Read More	Robert W. “Bob” Orthwein, 88, of Napoleon, formerly of Hamler, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon. He was born on the family farm near Malinta on March 16, 1926 to Edwin and Mathilda (Rettig) Orthwein. He married Alma Godeke on June 24, 1962 at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2009. He was a 1944 graduate of Malinta-Grelton High School and joined the Army to enter World War II in the European Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He farmed and worked at Gilson Screen until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Township, Napoleon. He is survived by his daughter, Ann (Michael) D’Esposito of Wauseon, son, John (Silvia) Orthwein of Meilen, Switzerland, four granddaughters; Kristin (Joel) Weber and Mary Kate D’Esposito of Wauseon, Lucia Orthwein and Elise Orthwein of Switzerland, great granddaughter, Kallahan Weber, and a great grandchild on the way, sisters; Geraldine (Stanley) Openlander of Napoleon, Dorothy (Ken) Fundum of Malinta, and Margaret (Bill) Straley of Napoleon. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth, an infant brother, James, and niece, Charlotte Straley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
