Vernon, IA. He was raised on the family farm in Lynn County, IA. As a school boy Ron participated in various 4-H projects, excelled in baseball and basketball and played first chair violin in the school orchestra. He attended college for one year, entered the Army Air Force, and after his honorable discharge married Mary Grace Cawley on August 3, 1942. Ron began his sales career with the Quaker Oats Company in Cedar Rapids, IA where he and Mary started their family and raised six children. In 1956 the family relocated to Fort Dodge, IA. In 1968 Ron joined Pfizer Corporation, Seed Corn Division, moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1973 serving as District Sales Manager until his retirement in 1980. During his retirement Ron and Mary enjoyed visiting their children, fifteen grandchildren, special friends, traveling, fishing, gardening and family cookouts. Ron also worked part time at Sunshine Grocery Store sacking groceries, stocking shelves and making more new friends. After the death of Mary in May of 1996 Ron continued working at Sunshine and it was there he met Marilyn Aase, sacking her groceries. Ron and Marilyn were married on January 10, 1998. Although failing health slowed Ron's activities, Marilyn nevertheless cared for him and devoted herself to him providing constant love and support. Over the course of their marriage Ron became a father figure to Marilyn's children, son, Sherman Aase and daughter, Sherryl Powell. He was a surrogate grandfather and all-round mentor and each of them will miss him dearly. Ron is also survived by his six children, Mark Neal and his wife, Susan, Fort Dodge, IA; Nancy Dwyer, Omaha, NE; Marilyn Danielson, Sioux Falls, SD; John Neal, Dayton, OH; Patsy Madland and her husband, Jon, Sioux Falls, SD; Lisa Neal, North Sioux City, SD; and his beloved "Princess", the family dachshund. In addition to his first wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Everett and Gaylord. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at St. Mark's Lutheran Church following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and though we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us... He only takes the best.
