Russell Kerns Hamilton, 48, of Nicholasville, Ky., died at 4:00 Wednesday afternoon in a Lexington, Ky., hospital following a short illness. Hamilton dies Wednesday in Kentucky. Russell Kerns Hamilton, 48, of Nicholasville, Ky., died at 4:00 Wednesday afternoon in a Lexington, Ky., hospital following a short illness. He was born in Keokuk, the son of Earl and Iva (Kerns) Hamilton. In 1933 he graduated from Keokuk Senior high scholl and was a resident here untill World War II when he entered military service. For the past few years he has been superintendent of the Camp Nelson National cemetery in Nicholasville, Ky. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist church, the I. O. O. F. and the Eagles Lodge 12, A. F. and A. M. Surviving are his parents and other relatives. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 Friday morning from the Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. The body will arrive in Keokuk Saturday morning and be taken to DeJong Funeral Home where service will be on Monday at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Ellsworth L. Woods officiating. Burial will be in the National cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and V. F. W. Hamilton (1913-1961) joined the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1941. Corporal Hamilton trained at Randolph Field in Texas and served overseas in 1942-1944 and completed his tour in 1945. In 1957 Hamilton was appointed superintendent of Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Kentucky. Hamilton fulfilled those duties until his death on this day in 1961. He is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery (Iowa).
