Born in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lena and Frank Moritz, Sr. He was the widower of the late Zoe Moritz. Left to cherish his memory: son, Kenneth Moritz, Sr., and his wife, Ginny; grandchildren, Chrisie Adams and her husband, Austin, and Kenny Moritz, Jr., and his fiancée, Tina; and great-grandchildren, Lily and Aubrey. He retired after 30 years in the Merchant Marines. He loved sailing the open waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He sailed six times around the world. He took part in delivering troops and supplies to Great Britain in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. It was during his tour in Great Britain, that he would meet and marry his wife of 72 years, Zoe Moritz. When he was home, he loved working with his son in Great Bridge Baseball, and Troops 52 and 55 of the Boy Scouts of America. He had been a member of the Chesapeake Moose Lodge, Great Bridge Masonic Lodge 257, and the Chesapeake Shriners. He enjoyed being a member of the Mini Model T's. He loved being in the parades and making people smile. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by Rev. Frank Moritz was the first born son of Frank, Sr and Lena (Demeter) Moritz. He married Mary Elsie Culpepper on August 17, 1939, in Norfolk County, Virginia and while he was underway on overseas deployments, he was having an affair. "Elsie" filed for divorce and was granted so on grounds of adultery on June 19, 1942, in Norfolk County, Virginia. He married Zoe Lavenia Richens, April of 1944, in Bridgend, Glamorganshire, United Kingdom and they adopted their only son, Kenneth Frank Moritz, on July 1, 1949 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
